It is promising indeed to see the growing consciousness around climate change and progressive climate positive efforts everyone is making. KIU was born out of the passion to do something about the climate crisis, humble as it may be.
Our philosophy at KIU is simple- to offer sustainable products for a sustainable planet. Our goal is to mitigate the use of plastic, lower the carbon footprint by replacing products made of toxic materials with organic, environmentally friendly products. Our products include, natural Jute bags, Copper Bottle/Carafe made of pure copper, handwoven Eco-Throws, GOTS certified/Recycled Yoga Mats, and Zafu meditation cushion with buckwheat hulls filling. We collaborate closely with our suppliers to ensure that our products are ethically sourced, and responsibility manufactured. We have gone to great lengths to ensure that our products and packaging materials are environmentally friendly.
Jute is a natural bast fibre, also known as Golden fibre because of its shiny look and feel, is 100% eco-friendly as it is biodegradable and compostable. It is extracted from the bast or skin of jute plant’s stem and spun into strong threads. Today, jute bags has become very popular replacing single use plastic bags as they protect the environment from pollution and provide part solution to growing climate crisis.
Drinking of copper infused water is widely acclaimed across cultures over the centuries for its positive impact on health. When you store water in a copper water bottle for at least 8 hours, copper has the ability to charge water positively by dissolving copper ions into the water in small amounts. Copper infused water destroys harmful microbes, fungi, bacteria, etc. Water stored in copper water bottle keeps water fresh and free of bacteria.
Organic cotton plays a significant role in enhancing biodiversity. The soil that produces organic cotton becomes healthier and yields more crops without the need for toxic, man-made fertilizers or pesticides. More importantly, less water is used in producing organic cotton. Organic fibers are longer, stronger, and softer than conventional cotton. Our organic cotton is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified and is used to produce our yoga products.
Keeping the green earth initiative in view, we are proud to state that we use recycled cotton to produce our products. Recycled cotton requires no additional dyes and reduces resources since no irrigation is needed for new crop growth.
